Introduction to Economics Faculty

Economics Faculty of Paktia University (with its BBA department) was founded in the year 2014. For the first time, students were introduced to the faculty through the Kankor Exam (University Entry Test) in 2014. Besides the BBA, Finance and Banking Department was also established in Economics Faculty in 2015.

Economics Faculty has (8 faculty members), on average, primarily trains 500 undergraduate students every year in its two departments. It is expected that three more lecturers will be appointed in the year 2019; it is worth mentioning that their recruitment is still in process. In addition to faculty members, Economics Faculty has General Teaching Officer, Executive Officer and a hired worker.

To provide students with practical works, Economics Faculty signed four coordinating partnerships with public and private institutions such as the Directorate of Public Finance, Customs Office, Azizi Bank and Chamber of Commerce and Industries in 2016.

Currently, Economics Faculty has 9 active committees under its umbrella to run its affairs smoothly. So far, 283 students including 14 females graduated from two departments of Economics Faculty in its last two years.

To provide quality services in the field of economics to the society that meets international standards and support socio-economic growth and development of the country. 


To train students at the undergraduate level in the way of modern economics and to conduct basic and applied research that move up the boundaries of the knowledge in the field.


  • Quality improvement of the teaching, training and research in the faculty in accordance with international norms.

  • Increasing of faculty members and administrative staff to meet the standards.

  • Continuous assessment of faculty curriculum and its renewal if needed.

  • Making partnerships with other faculties at national and international level in coordination with the university.

  • Equipment and enrichment of the faculty’s library.

  • Broadening and quality improvement of research activities.

  • To increase electronic and online activities and to reduce paper work.

  • Gradually applying English language as a medium of instruction.

  • Establishing more departments inside the faculty.

  • To start night shift faculty.

  • Implementation and development of quality improvement and maintenance program.

  •  Assessment and enhancement of faculty’s standards and procedures.
